BLACK LIVES MATTER – ALSO IN DENMARK
In recent times, few movements have been able to mobilize as much passion, collectivity, and activism as the ‘Black Lives Matter movement’. While originating in response to US police-brutality, the movement has planted strong roots throughout the world, including Denmark. Not only that, but the movement has also started new and important conversations about racism and colonialism in Denmark.
LISTENING TO REAL LIFE STORIES OF RACISM IN DENMARK
Our workshops are designed to create a safe space, where young Danish students of color are encouraged to share their own stories about racism in Denmark. Experiences that far too many, sadly, still have to endure. As such, the workshops set out to teach the students not only to understand but also to feel the very real cost and division that racism can cause on a human, relational and societal level.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION: BEING AN ANTI-RACIST
As an organizations that work for youth empowerment, another essential part of our BLM-workshop is to tackle the question of how the students can get actively involved and take action in relation to racism and BLM.
As such, the workshop will include a number of action-based and interactive exercises that will give the students the tools they need to take responsibility and action for a better and indiscriminate tomorrow.
LEARNING METHODS
With exactly these purposes in mind, the workshops are designed to combine easy-going, informal learning methods, storytelling, spoken word, and theatre to achieve learning goals.
