In this webinar, Morten will talk about his life and his career path. He will also discuss how diversity is vital for science and innovation, about access and opportunity privilege and how these must be overcome so that there can be a future for us all. Michelle Pace is a Professor in Global Studies at Roskilde University in Denmark. Her research and teaching focus on the intersections between European, Middle East, Migration, Democratization and Conflict Studies. Trained as a political scientist, she embraces an interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from international relations, sociology, anthropology, ethnography, and political psychology. Beyond academia, Michelle collaborates with artists, finding inspiration in creative expression. Later this year (December 2025) Michelle’s book, Unwelcome to Denmark. The Paradigm Shift and Refugee Integration (with Sarah El Abd) will be published by Manchester University Press (Hardback: 9781526175311; PDF: 9781526175328; EPUB: 9781526175304). This book examines Denmark’s strict immigration policies and the impact of these on those they target as well as those who are tasked to support them. Her research for this monograph has been funded by the Carlsberg Foundation Monograph Fellowship. Additionally, Michelle has been collaborating with partners in the Gaza Strip, and University College London on a project exploring mental health and resilience in Gaza, supported by the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council. She is currently a member of the International Advisory Board for the UKRI ESRC project on “The Shared Homeland Paradigm: Reimagining Space, Rights and Partnership in Palestine-Israel”.
