Jesper Højberg is the Executive Director of International Media Support (IMS), a Denmark-based civil society organization dedicated to supporting media in conflict zones and areas of political transition. He founded IMS in 2001, in the wake of the Rwanda genocide, and has since worked globally to strengthen journalism and protect media workers in challenging environments. With over 30 years of experience in journalism, social research, and media development, Jesper's career includes roles as director of a UNESCO Film School in Zimbabwe and coordinator for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Civil Society Development programme in South Eastern Europe. Jesper’s commitment to free and responsible media has never wavered, even in the face of increasing threats against journalists from Gaza to Myanmar, Sudan, and beyond. Morten Meldal is professor of chemistry at the University of Copenhagen, and a Nobel Prize Laureate for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry in 2022. He will also discuss how diversity is vital for science and innovation, about access and opportunity privilege and how these must be overcome so that there can be a future for us all. Ahrong is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Culture and Learning at Aalborg University, where she also obtained her PhD in February 2022. Ahrong's research lies within the interdisciplinary field of critical race studies and critical childhood studies. She is particularly interested in children's racialized lived experiences and how intersections of race and age sustain and inform ideas of innocence, justice, and feelings of protection for all, but especially non-white children and youth.
